Summer is here! Enjoy the warmth of the sun. Feel the tingling grains of sand underneath the soles of your feet. Hop into your favorite summer dress, grab your woven hat, sling your sandals on, and let go!
I look forward to summertime each year, we pair well together, and for this reason, family travels are inevitable. To help keep our trips happy and memorable, they are few items that are quite essential and MUST be in my travel bag.
#1 Alcohol-based Hand Sanitizer
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer- Even before the advent of Covid-19, having a travel-size hand sanitizer was an effective way to sanitize hands when traveling. We interact with myriads of surfaces, which is home to millions of microbes. I love a hand sanitizer that does not leave a sticky residue after use. So I stick with Purell to get the job done.
#2 Chap Ice Lip Balm
Keep your lips moisturized and plump or repair chapped lips while you’re traveling, especially when flying. I loveee the feel of smooth, supple lips under my lipstick. This lip balm is a rescue essential for me. Chap Ice Lip Balm is the perfect size for travel and does not require finger application- I love this convenience.
#3 Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara
Here is an oldie but good, that’s Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara in very black (color). It’s washable, easily applied with its simple wand design. I feel no pressure using this mascara on the go, and I still get fabulous lashes.
#4 Microbead Neck Pillow
I imagine enjoying a comfortable flight whenever I have my microbead neck pillow. It’s never too firm, and I can manipulate the beads to support my head; however, I like it. It’s the best decision I have made in a pillow. This microbead pillow is very simple and cheap, and it comes with a single closure in the front that allows me to secure it to my luggage quickly. As a bonus, I enjoy a therapeutic feeling when massaging the beads within the pillow with my hands (lol), usually when I’m waiting.
Zoppen passport holder cover, this was money well spent for the family. I purchased 3 of these holders, and it has been a passport holder cover and then some. Firstly, our cases are color-coded, so looking at the holders, I know right away which passport belongs to who. Family passports located stat! Additionally, I can house my passport, my baggage tag receipts, and a trusty pen all in the same holder. My contents have never felt more secure and organized, as this holder has a snap closure. This product for ME, and you can enjoy it as well.

#6 Samsonite Carry on Luggage with Spinner Wheels
Samsonite carry-on luggage- it’s so crucial for me to have luggage with wheels that run 360 degrees. As a mom and a heavy traveler (that’s so not cool), 360 rollers have been my best friend. A 360 degrees roller requires little effort to push or pull; there are several different models as long as it goes when I’m moving, I ok. I’m more relaxed when traveling with its ease of portability. I am not stuck on Samsonite, but this brand has lived up to long bouts of international flying while being packed to capacity and has survived. With that said, I’ve never had a reason to look elsewhere.
#7 JBL Reflect Contour 2.0 Bluetooth Earphones
Earphones, my JBL Reflect Contour 2.0 earphones are my go-to on the fly. These are the only pair of earphones that I’ve ever purchased that isn’t uncomfortable to use. Issues that I’ve had in the past with older style earphones are that they put pressure inside my ear or they keep falling out. With these JBL, once I have it paired up with my phone, I’m in business. They hang around my neck when not in use, and I can easily slip them in my ear.
#8 Clinique Foaming Cleanser Mousse & Clinique Moisture Surge 72 hour Auto Replenishing Hydrator
Flying does a number on my skin, I get dehydrated and dry, especially if I do not stay adequately had hydrated. I get distracted quite easily with all the commotion related to travel. These two products that have done it for me and are always in my beauty kit when traveling are Clinique’s Foaming Cleanser Mousse and Clinique Moisture Surge 72 hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator. I apply Clinique’s Moisture Surge at the start of my day, and the moisture it gives is phenomenal. My rinse- off mouse cleans me up at the end of the day. I love that they are available in travel size and are super easy to carry around, allowing me to get that pampering I want when I want.
You can have so much fun traveling and appreciating new experiences and cultures, but you can certainly be miserable if you find yourself with unmet needs. While you can wing it, I’d rather be prepared and aim for smooth sailing than try to problem solve after the fact. Make a list of items to pack in your luggage; save yourself the time that can be used otherwise, making additional income or memories.
